Booking vs reservation

Note the terms booking and reservation are largely synonymous and are used interchangeably in the API. They both refer to resources set aside (booked or reserved) for a particular time period. In the context of the PMS, that resource is a room, either a bedroom for a guest stayover or a function room for an event.

The only difference between the two terms is that 'booking' is from the point of view of the person making the booking (i.e. they have booked a room) while 'reservation' is from the point of view of the hotel or inventory manager (i.e. one of their rooms is reserved for a guest).

Be aware that while a reservation is normally for a single resource for a single time period, that is not always the case. A reservation can have multiple parts, e.g. across different rooms, across different properties, across different room rates.
